GENEVIÈVE CLEARY…

 

 

At just 28 years of age, Geneviève Cleary already has 22 years in the business

 

 

Geneviève Cleary began her career as a professional dancer at the age of 6.  By 12, she added choreographer andteacher to her list of accomplishments. Two years later, thanks to her natural talent for tap dancing, Geneviève was invited to join Manhattan Tap, a prestigious New York dance ensemble. In the company of dancers such as Savion Glover, Debbie Allen, Gregory Hines,Nicholas Brothers and Fred Kelly (Gene Kelly’s brother), that Geneviève perfected her art.

 

By 17, Geneviève had an impressive track record, including performances in New York and St.Louis dance festivals and choreography for such shows as Harmony 2000 created by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon (Cirque du Soleil), a remarkable event that was seen around the world.

 

At 20, after many tours, countless shows, Geneviève finally ended her career as a dance professional in order to devote herself full time to choreography, staging,artistic direction, and production.

 

She started her own company, Belluscious Productions, and was immediately offered the opportunity to create and produce a show inaugurating the new Fleur de LysCabaret Theatre on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

 

Geneviève auditioned the best dancers in the U.S. and in England.  She then wrote the book for the show,created the choreography, and designed the stage sets specifically for her new dance company.  Her modern style isinspired by the great movie and musical classics from the 20’s to the 50’s.The show was seen by many celebrities including Dustin Hoffman, Trent Reznor andJohn Cusak, and was favorably reviewed by the American media who compared it to the memorable cabaret choreography of her idol, Busby Berkeley.

 

At 22 years of age and with shows at the Montreal and Hull Casinos and the Fleur de Lys Cabaret Theatre in New Orleans under her belt, Geneviève received an invitation from a New York Off-Broadway production. She went on to choreograph and stage the musical comedy Valentino the Musical at the renowned American Theatre of Actors.

 

Once back in Quebec, Geneviève decided to settle here and to devote her energies to Belluscious Productions.  Her company became world renowned in the show community when she received in Los Angeles the International Special Event Award for the quality of its production, creation and performance of Bathing Beauties her creation presented at the Mayor’s Ball held in Montreal during FINA 2005.

 

Geneviève  Cleary continues to showcase the originality of her vision and her company of dancers in events staged from the US West Coast to Brazil for clients such as the Cirque du Soleil, Mercedes Benz, Chaneland the International Film Festival, to name a few.  And Hollywood stars such as Carmen Electra, Dave Navarro and Pamela Anderson now call on the many talents of this young choreographer and artistic director… It’s clear that this engaging story has just begun.
